Sailing Schools

If you're new to sailing and want to be bareboat certified, then you'll need to learn more before bareboating on your own. We'd suggest starting near home taking a basic sailing course with a local sailing school. After that you can continue with that school or perhaps combine further instruction with a sailing vacation in your favorite charter destination in order to receive your sailing certification. You can join a course with other students or get private sailing instruction on your own bareboat with a certified sailing instructor.

Many sailing schools are affiliated with ASA, the American Sailing Association, with US Sailing, RYA, CYA or other national sailing authorities. The listings we have compiled include most of these schools in the USA and many overseas and non-affiliated sailing schools. We stress that a listing in eBare does not imply that we recommend a particular school. Any bona-fide school can obtain a free listing on our website. Ask for references from any school that you are considering, and then check those references before signing up for courses. Use our selection tool to find sailing schools in the area that you wish to take your course, then scroll down to see the results.

Because our list is so extensive we request your help in keeping it up-to-date. If you find a listing that's no longer active, or know of a sailing school that is not listed, please send us an email so that we may make the necessary changes. Thank you!
